Good Afternoon,
The City requires three things to paint brackets near driveways:
1. A high rate of parking occupancy during peak times, at or above 90%.
2. A street travel width of 18 feet or less.
3. A documented history of multiple driveway encroachment violations at a specific location.
This request meets the street width requirement; the travel width in this area is above 18 feet, however with the curb extensions the street width in sections is as low as 16 feet, consequently we meet this requirement. Based on data collected on other streets in the area, School Street has a high parking occupancy rate. Looking at the driveway encroachment data, there have been a few clusters of a high number of violations, which meets the third criteria. Based on this policy DPW staff would recommend painting brackets near the driveways on School Street. Dan Hill, DPW Traffic Foreman will put this into his 2021 work plan. Feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
Best,
