Sweeping Needed Archived96 Colchester Ave Burlington, VT, 05401, USA - Burlington Electric
I went out the other day checking many of the other bike lanes in town;
North Ave
College St
Main St
Colchester Ave
Mansfield St
Union St
Pearl St
N & S Winooski Ave
Sherman Stand all had the same problem of debris; silt, sand, gravel, broken glass, blown trash, and more. Presumably given the 1000 batting record on the many that I checked I suspect every bike lane in the city has the same issue with hazardous conditions.
Please, please, please go out and sweep our bike lanes. Last I knew there were only around 10 miles of them in the whole city. Seems like this could easily be knocked out in a day or two and then it would no longer be putting off people from healthy transportation and recreation.
Given the present dangerous conditions I even know regular daily riders who are put off from going out unless they have to due to the very real dangers from flats and crashes all due to the accumulation of materials in the spaces we've "dedicated" for cyclists.
The city has a duty to keep our streets accessible and currently one way of getting around is being severely disadvantaged.

zero bike racks at Church and Bank
folks in BTV are hardy and ride all year. we need year round parking to support that or we'll never meet the goals we've set as a city...
