Historically, the access to this parking lot was just one lane wide, giving pedestrians a measure of safety along the sidewalk back before it was paved over by the property owner. On-street parking was restricted to the south of this single-lane curb cut for safer visibility into the near-side traffic lane. Through years of buildup of asphalt on both the private lot and public sidewalk and street, the established curb cut has been expanded with resultant dangers to both emerging drivers and the burgeoning number of pedestrians in the area. This encroachment into the right of way need not be promulgated at the expense of pedestrian safety--a single lane in and out allows for efficient movement of vehicles out of the lot as vehicles seeking entrance need to stop, permitting speedier exit. This, in turn, keeps pedestrians moving safely along the sidewalk. (As a pedestrian on the sidewalk I recently needed to stop as a car exited the lot within touching distance and across what was once the curb protecting the no parking/sight-line zone, scraping its undercarriage as it went.)

The entrance to this parking lot has historically been one-lane wide. While walking along the sidewalk recently, I had a car cut in front of me and exit the south side of the lot across what was previously the no parking/sight-line spaces, scraping its undercarriage as it went. For pedestrian safety, please demarcate the sidewalk from the entrance/exit ramp by continuing an elevated grade protected by curbing and/or signage. Thanks!
